Brenden Walker
Brenden Walker is an Indigenous Lawyer who first joined our team in May 2020 as a volunteer law student after his second year of law school and has since graduated from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. He graduated with a Specialization in Aboriginal Law in 2021 and achieved a certificate in Indigenous Cultural Competency. During his time at law school, Mr. Walker enrolled in the experiential learning clinical program offered through the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic located in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver which provides legal support to Indigenous community members, and went on to volunteer there until he joined our office. Mr. Walker was also a member of the Indigenous Law Students Association, a panel member for Aboriginal Experience Day at UBC providing advice for Indigenous high school students across BC interested in Law, and was part of the Admissions Committee at Allard School of Law. Mr. Walker practices Criminal Law and has the privilege of regularly appearing in both Provincial Court and Supreme Court across BC with T.E. La Liberté, K.C. .
Kalila B. Wilkinson – Lawyer
Kalila B. Wilkinson is a Criminal Defence Lawyer who works with La Liberté Cronin & Company on select trial and appellate matters. She first worked with the firm as an articling student in 2016, and has since acted as co-counsel in complex trials alongside T.E. La Liberté, K.C. . Ms. Wilkinson has represented clients facing criminal charges throughout British Columbia, in both Provincial and Supreme Court. Her legal practice is based primarily in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island where she also acts as lawyer for the Director of Child and Family Services, and as supervising lawyer at the Society for Equity Inclusion and Advocacy. She serves as a Regional Representative for the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society and is a member of the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers. Ms. Wilkinson holds a Juris Doctorate Law Degree with a specialization in Social Justice from the University of British Columbia Allard School of Law (2017) and was the recipient of the Trial Advocacy Scholarship. She is committed to advocating for her clients and judiciously defending their rights.
Marlene, Legal Assistant
Marlene has been a member of our team for over 12 years, having started with us in June, 2009. She is an Indigenous person, and a proud member of the Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribe. Marlene has previously worked for various non-profit organizations on the Downtown Eastside/East Vancouver since 2004, and spent a number of years working for the Provincial Government before joining our firm. Marlene is often the first contact for our clients, other lawyers and staff. She is empathetic, wise and dedicated to serving the needs of our diverse clients.
